Dr. Chase Cunningham

Dr. Chase Cunningham primarily contributes to Forrester’s offerings for Security & Risk Professionals. His research guides client initiatives related to security operations center (SOC) planning and optimization, counter-threat operations, encryption, network security, and Zero Trust concepts and implementation. He helps senior technology executives with their plans to leverage comprehensive security controls and the use of a variety of standards, frameworks, and tools to enable secure business operations. His research focuses on integrating security into operations; leveraging advanced security solutions; empowering operations through artificial intelligence and machine learning; and planning for future growth within secure systems. Prior to joining Forrester, Chase served as a director of cyber threat intelligence operations at Armor. He was the computer network exploitation lead for Telecommunication Systems and the chief of cyber analytics for Decisive Analytics. Dr. Cunningham is a retired U.S. Navy chief with more than 19 years’ experience in cyberforensic and cyberanalytic operations. He has past operations experience, stemming from time spent in work centers within the NSA, CIA, FBI, and other government agencies. In those roles, he helped clients operationalize security controls; install and leverage encryption and analytic systems; and grow and optimize their security operations command systems and centers. Chase holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in computer science from Colorado Technical University and a B.S. from American Military University focused on counter-terrorism operations in cyberspace.

Mark Weatherford is a Senior Advisor at The Chertoff Group where he works with businesses and organizations around the world by helping create comprehensive and strategic security programs that address the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Mr. Weatherford is a Distinguished Fellow at the Poneman Institute, a member of the CSIS Cyber Policy Task Force for the 45th President, a Founding member of the CyberCalifornia Board of Advisors, and serves on the Government Advisory Council of Palo Alto Networks and the Advisory Boards at Cylance, Coalfire Systems and AlertEnterprise.

Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Mr. Weatherford was appointed by President Obama as the Department of Homeland Security’s first Deputy Under Secretary for Cybersecurity. Before joining DHS, Mr. Weatherford was the Vice President and Chief Security Officer at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) where he directed the cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection program and worked with electric utility companies across North America. Prior to NERC, Mr. Weatherford was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve as California’s first Chief Information Security Officer and was also the first Chief Information Security Officer for the State of Colorado, where he was appointed by two successive governors.

As a former U.S. Navy Cryptologic Officer, Mr. Weatherford led the United States Navy’s Computer Network Defense operations and the Naval Computer Incident Response Team (NAVCIRT).

Mr. Weatherford earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, a master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certifications. He was awarded SC Magazine’s “CSO of the Year” award in 2010, named one of the “10 Most Influential People in Government Information Security” by GovInfoSecurity in both 2012 and 2013 and was selected for the 2013 CSO Compass Award for leadership achievements in the security community.

Adam Isles

Adam Isles is a Principal at The Chertoff Group, where he helps clients evaluate and mature their security risk management programs. Mr. Isles has managed security services engagements for clients in a number of industries, including financial services, retail, transportation, food and agriculture and utility sectors. Mr. Isles also provides market assessment advice for providers of security products, services and solutions. Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Mr. Isles worked at Raytheon Company where he was the Director of Strategy and Policy Consulting for homeland security. In this role, Mr. Isles built and managed a team of subject matter experts responsible for helping homeland security customers analyze mission needs and develop risk management strategies and technology solutions to mitigate security concerns. He is a certified Raytheon Six Sigma specialist.

Previously, Mr. Isles served as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security where he worked daily with the Secretary to coordinate department-wide operations. Before joining the Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Isles served at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he started his legal career as a trial attorney in the Criminal Division in 1997. From 2002-2003, he was a Director of International Economic Affairs at the National Security Council. Mr. Isles is currently a Senior Associate (non-resident) at the Center for Strategic & International Studies Homeland Security & Counterterrorism Program and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Regional Plan Association of New York. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in history from Yale University, and is a member of the New York, Massachusetts and District of Columbia bars.

Jeff Schmidt

Jeff was appointed chief executive officer and president of Authomate Inc., in January 2015. In this role, Jeff is responsible for establishing the vision of Authomate, as well as developing and executing the company’s growth strategy to drive employee, client, and shareholder value. He has been at the center of innovative technology leadership throughout his career and has a passion for security solutions. Before joining Authomate, Jeff was the chief operating officer of SQS North America. His responsibilities included all day-to-day operations, including operational and financial management for all portfolio development and delivery for North America. Jeff helped drive significant growth in the SQS business in the US, achieving revenue of $20 million from a $2M baseline during his two-year tenure.

Prior to SQS, Jeff led BT’s global security solution practice (BT Assure), which included customized products and managed security solutions for BT’s clients globally. This included the launch of BT’s Assure portfolio which when he left accounted for over $250m in annual revenue and growth rates upward of 20% across the portfolio. Under his leadership, BT Assure received accolades and recognition as a market leader in security by key industry analysts. His team developed and deployed “visual analytics” for intrusion detection, and the early adoption of cloud-based security solutions, which enabled “bring your own device” capabilities for enterprises globally. Jeff held leadership positions in the information technology sector for over 25 years with prominent companies such as Home Savings of America, Lucent, California State Automobile Association, Paramount Pictures, InCode Telecom Group, and International Network Services. Additionally, Jeff has worked closely with many industry-leading consultants and has presented at events held by Gartner, RSA, InfoSec, and Cisco.

Jason Cook

Jason Cook is Managing Director at The Chertoff Group and Vice-Chair of the IoT Community Security Privacy & Trust Center of Excellence SPTIoTCoE. Leadership member of the Strategy Practise and Technology vertical, providing strategic direction and operational expertise across the technology spectrum. Proud to mentor and help others reach their potential and chosen path. The Chertoff Group is a premier global advisory firm focused on security and risk management. The Chertoff Group helps clients grow and secure their enterprise through risk management, business strategy, and merchant banking advisory services. Previously, Jason Cook lead BT’s security practice across the Americas region and ran BT’s portfolio and service design activities in the region. Jason was responsible for sales, portfolio, partners and operations for security. At the same time, he ensured that BT consistently maintains high standards across BT Americas for our own security. In addition, Jason lead several teams of sector CTOs, service design and transformation teams. He was responsible for delivering solutions for more than 7,000 of BT’s global customers across the company’s lines of business. With his team’s help, Jason helped to create and provide customers with innovative service propositions and solutions.

Jason most recently served as IT Director for BT Americas, responsible for major account global E2E solutions and service design. Jason’s twenty-plus years with BT have given him technical and leadership experience in infrastructure, architecture, development and extensive experience working with vendors. Jason and his teams are always seeking the next stages of customer service and IT advances, with an eye toward developing effective and profitable service propositions for BT’s customers.

Nancy Shemwell

Ms. Nancy Shemwell serves as the Chief Operations Officer of the IoT Community and Co-Chair of the IoT Community Security Privacy Trust in IoT Center of Excellence will undertake key contributions to help deliver on the IoT Community’s forward directions to move ‘up the technology stack,’ while adding scale to its growing member business. Ms Shemwell most recently served as Chief Executive Officer at entegra technologies (now Vericlave), inc. since May 2016. She served as the Chief Operating Officer of DataSpan, Inc until January 8, 2016. Ms. Shemwell served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Multi-Link Inc. She served as an Executive Vice President of Global Sales & Services at Symmetricom Inc. from July 2006 to October 12, 2007 and also as its Senior Vice President of Sales and Service. Ms. Shemwell joined Symmetricom in 2004. She served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Jovial Test Equipment. With over twenty-five years in the telecommunications industry, Ms. Shemwell has held a variety of senior positions with global business responsibilities including assignments in Europe and North America. Her experience covers a broad spectrum of general management, sales and marketing roles in rapidly developing markets. A sixteen year career with Nortel Networks, where Ms. Shemwell held titles of President of Micom Communications Corporation (a Nortel subsidiary), Vice President of Business Segments and Vice President of Sales & Marketing of Wiltel (Nortel’s largest enterprise distributor) and Director of Marketing of Europe, Middle East and Africa. She served as a Director of Call Genie Inc. (also Known as VoodooVox, Inc) from October 26, 2006 to February 2014. Ms. Shemwell served as a Director of UpSnap, Inc. from October 26, 2006 to February 6, 2014. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the American Technological University.

Dipto Chakravarty

As Chief Technology Officer at Exostar, Dipto is responsible for the strategic design, software engineering, and ongoing innovation of the company’s technology infrastructure, operations, and delivery. Dipto brings a diverse set of information security skills and experiences to Exostar.

Dipto has a track record of success in the development and re-engineering of solutions in the security field, spanning identity management, cybersecurity, and threat remediation, among others. He possesses deep domain expertise in software-as-a-service, cloud, mobile, and Internet of Things technologies, leveraging them to drive revenue and consistently win industry awards. Dipto’s portfolio includes 11 patents, several best-selling books, and high-profile speaking engagements.

Dipto comes to Exostar from CA Technologies, where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of its core security IAM business unit. At CA, he also served as Senior Vice President of Engineering, with oversight of the company’s cybersecurity product lines. Prior to CA, Dipto held executive positions at ThreatTrack Security, Novell, and Thomson-Reuters. He began his career as a software engineer at IBM and Bell Labs after graduating with undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science from the University of Maryland.

Chris Sullivan

Chris Sullivan is the Global Healthcare Practice Lead for Zebra Technologies and is responsible for the strategy and marketing functions for the Healthcare vertical business. Chris began his career with Cardinal Health in 1993 and spent 16 years in sales, marketing, operations, and strategy leadership positions with Cardinal Health. In 2008, Chris joined W.W. Grainger to lead the strategy formation and creation of its Healthcare business. While at W.W. Grainger, he created an industry first business model – designed around the Environment of Care regulatory standards – and distinguished by its innovation, marketplace differentiation, and commercial success.

John Gresham

As vice president of DeviceWorks and Interoperability, John Gresham is focused on Cerner’s integrated solutions and technologies business units. This responsibility includes business, financial and product strategies world-wide for Cerner’s technology resale business, integrated solutions portfolio and managed services business development. The DeviceWorks integrated solution portfolio includes Cerner’s CareAware® device connectivity and workflow solutions, communications, network and security, telehealth, clinical imaging, workforce and capacity management, and mobility solutions. He makes an impact on clients by improving safety and efficiency of existing clinical workflows as well as transforming current care deliver models through emerging technologies and innovation.
