Nancy Shemwell steps down as COO of IoT Community; Remains on Board of Advisors and Center of Excellence leadership positions

London, UK, May 11, 2020: IoT Community announces that its chief operations officer Ms. Nancy Shemwell will step down from her role after two years in the position as she returns to corporate America. Executive Director, Mr. David Hill will resume the day-to-day operations of the organisation. Ms. Shemwell will continue to serve on the IoT Community Advisory Board and remain actively engaged in the Center of Excellence program.

During Shemwell’s tenure at IoT Community, the global membership of the association has grown significantly and undergone tremendous change and operational advancements. IoT Community is now helping more IoT practitioners around the world embrace IoT, tackling their toughest challenges than ever before by providing free access to proven best practices and thought leadership in the industry. There are more than 24.000 members in over 100 countries.

Shemwell embraced the initiatives needed for IoT Community to be transformed into a leading member association and, during her tenure, IoT Community has experienced great accomplishments and charted a new direction. Over the past two years under Shemwell’s leadership, IoT Community has launched several new initiatives and ratified existing programs including hosting four IoT Slam events, making it eleven IoT Slams in total, covering important topics such as 5G, Edge, IIoT, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and big data.

Within the organization, Shemwell championed diversity at all levels and created a more inclusive culture. Shemwell helped initiate the Women in IoT Center of Excellence, the Security Privacy and Trust in IoT Center of Excellence and laid the foundations for the future direction and rollout of more specialized CoE programs. Shemwell executed on the global organization’s purpose of becoming the world’s foremost thought leader in the IoT industry, and she guided the evolution of IoT Community into a leading-edge purpose-led organization.
