The IoT Community – Internet of Things Community Announces Partnership with Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas

The IoT Community – Internet of Things Community® is proud to announce a collaboration partnership with Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX), the Dallas-based regional Girl Scout Council dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. An IoT Community/GSNETX relationship will assist in educating girls on the cutting-edge IoT landscape while also introducing the 23,000+ members of IoT Community to the tremendous and impactful activities of the Girl Scouts’ STEM-focused initiatives. This partnership will help GSNETXshowcase the innovative STEM activities and work they are doing in North Texas to a wider global audience of tech industry executives and practitioners; in return, the IoT Community will open avenues for education and potential membership collaborations to assist the education initiative surrounding IoT advancements and real-world applications.

“Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas is committed to changing the workforce pipeline for North Texas. With partnerships throughout the community, we are bringing our expertise in girls and our experience in STEM to collaborations that will drive girls’ interest, confidence and competence in STEM careers, said Jennifer Bartkowski, CEO of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. “The partnership with the IoT Community is critical as we look ahead to emerging technologies that will shape our future and benefit immensely from the leadership and engagement of women and girls.”

“The IoT Community is proud to partner with a trailblazing organization like the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas; as a former Girl Scout I can attest to the role the Girl Scouts play in shaping young women into future leaders,” said Nancy Shemwell, COO, IoT Community. “This partnership is both the first STEM alliance and represents the first initiative since launching the Women in IoT focused IoT Center of Excellence (CoE) in April, 2019. This CoE has assembled a unique community of IoT executives and leaders focused on showcasing and developing women leaders in IoT, with an emphasis on mentoring and educating current and future leaders in this high growth space. We believe the Girls Scouts STEM initiative is an ideal conduit to engage young women at a crucial developmental stage.”

“The Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas have heightened their focus on STEM as evidenced by the development of the STEM Center of Excellence in Dallas, which serves more than 6,000 girls annually in North Texas and has opened its programs to surrounding border states. This STEM lab fosters an environment of learning and exposure to leading technologies where girls can earn badges in STEM areas like cyber engineering and robotics. The IoT Community wants to work together with GSNETX to facilitate the education of IoT and its ever-changing, ever-growing environment within the STEM Center of Excellence,” said Ms. Shemwell.

David Hill, Executive Director of the IoT Community said, “We look forward to hosting GSNETX’s CEO Jennifer Bartkowski as keynote speaker and as well as a discussion panelist along with SAS, Ericsson North America and IoT executives at the upcoming IoT Community’s Live Slam event, June 20-21 2019, R.T.P North Carolina. Once again, we are thrilled to collaborate with GSNETX and look forward to helping further advance women and develop leaders in the IoT, business, and technology sectors.”
