Welcome to The IoT Community

Proud to serve as the world’s largest and longest-standing global, independent IoT community—advancing the evolution and adoption of the Internet of Things.

The IoT Community® (Internet of Things Community®) is a privately held, UK-based and registered corporation serving a global network of 50,000+ senior business leaders and IoT practitioners.

Founded in 2015, our purpose is simple: help organizations adopt and apply IoT successfully in real commercial environments. We focus on what it takes to move from ideas to outcomes—addressing the practical barriers, technical complexity, operational realities, and business challenges that can slow down IoT programs.

Our IoT Community Charter

Who we are

We are an open community of practitioners who develop, deploy, and operate Internet of Things (IoT) devices, networks, and applications across industries worldwide.

What is our scope

  • Our primary focus is the adoption and application of IoT in commercial environments.
  • We work to surface and reduce real-world barriers—technical, operational, and organizational—so companies and customers can realize measurable IoT value.
  • We engage across many vertical applications, including (but not limited to): connected vehicle and mobility, intelligent transport, industrial/IIoT, connected home, consumer electronics, healthcare, and smart cities.
  • We emphasize implementation, operations, and economics—how systems are built, managed, secured, scaled, and sustained.
  • We share best practices and lived experience to educate and enable others with practical, repeatable guidance.
  • Our primary themes are captured in our Areas of Interest, and we remain open to emerging issues that shape IoT adoption.

What we plan to do

  • Facilitate active discussion and knowledge exchange through our LinkedIn community and broader channels.
  • Create and maintain a practical reference source—including success examples, best practices, and case studies.
  • Organize virtual and in-person events to share viewpoints, learn from industry leaders, and spotlight applied use cases.
  • Identify industry issues and work collaboratively across our member base and with standards bodies, forums, developer communities, suppliers, and ecosystem partners.
  • Regularly survey and engage our members to ensure we prioritize what matters most to the community.

How we’re different

  • We stay focused on commercial adoption and operational reality, not hype.
  • We leverage social and community-led engagement to surface proven practices and real lessons learned.
  • We “leave our badges at the door”—prioritizing collaboration and outcomes over positioning, titles, or vendor agendas.
  • We bring together a broad, diverse practitioner base across the IoT ecosystem, with deep experience across industries and deployment contexts.

What we aim to achieve and contribute to the industry

  • Be the place organizations come for credible IoT insight on implementation and operations.
  • Help make IoT adoption easier, more secure, and more scalable—accelerating practical uptake across industries.

IoT Community Executive Management & Advisory Board Members

The IoT Community is managed by in-house IoT experts and supported by extensive global resources through well-established industry channels. We have assembled a world-class advisory board to help shape the organization’s direction, strategy, and go-to-market priorities.

In their roles, Advisory Board members provide guidance on vision and execution that helps shape the future direction of IoT Slam, our IoT Community initiatives, and the broader IoT industry.
