The IoT Community and CertNexus Partner to Address Global IoT Skills Gap Offering the world’s only ANSI/ISO 17204 accredited IoT Certification: Certified Internet of Things Practitioner (CIoTP) CIoTP

Rochester, New York – July 26, 2019 – CertNexus, the global purveyor of vendor neutral, emerging technology certifications and micro-credentials  and the Internet of Things Community® (IoT Community®), the world’s largest and longest standing global independent IoT Community, today announced a partnership to facilitate and accelerate closing the rapidly expanding Internet of Things (IoT) skills gap.

According to a report by Inmarstat, 76% of companies surveyed require additional senior, strategic-level staff with skills in IoT, and 80% do not possess the IoT skills required to ensure their current IoT solutions will work as intended. According to Bain and Company, the IoT industry is on its way to becoming a $450 billion industry, and organizations will require investments in training and validating skills in order to succeed in this rapidly growing environment.

The two organizations have signed an agreement that provides the industry workshops and other turnkey training solutions to the world’s only ANSI/ISO 17204 accredited IoT Certification: the Certified Internet of Things Practitioner (CIoTP). The IoT Community will have members access to CertNexus’ certifications and micro-credential through virtual classes, access to digital books and virtual labs, and sit for CertNexus exams.  Additionally, CPE credits will be assigned to IoT SLAM and Master Class events to continue the certification maintenance.

Internet of Things (IoT) Community announces formation of Women in IoT Center of Excellence (WIoTCoE)

The WIoTCoE aims to collectively provide the global IoT community learning and best practice sharing for IoT application and use in engaging and developing Women in IoT.

The Chair Emeritus will be Sandy Carter, vice president at Amazon Web Services, and Amber Armstrong, vice president and CMO, IBM Watson, will serve as the vice chair for the organization.

The Culture pillar will be led by Adrianne Court, Chief Human Resource Officer, Alkami Technology. Its focus is on embracing diversity of thought and unique perspectives and valuing differences to cultivate innovation in corporate and organizational cultures.

Jeanne Bayless, Partner at Bayless Capital, will head the Business Acumen pillar where they will work to develop opportunities to expand professional expertise spanning from financial acumen to business development.

The WIoTCoE is currently building alliances with women-centric groups such as Women in Cyber Security (WiCsy) and Texas Wall Street Women. Heading up the Alliance pillar will be Amy Konary, vice president of customer business innovation, Zuora, with a focus on the success and development of women in IoT.

Leadership by example is paramount to the WIoTCoE and at the helm of this pillar is Tamara Dull, principal open source technologist at Amazon Web Services. The Leading by Example pillar celebrates the success of women in IoT and will recognize companies and initiatives that are proactive in the advancement of women in IoT.

The WIoTCoE is committed to the future of women in IoT and that starts with promoting STEM initiatives at a young age. The Future IoT pillar will showcase associations with missions centered on inspiring girls in STEM to develop future IoT talent. At the helm of this important pillar will be Michele Null, global marketing leader, IoT Division at SAS.

Overseeing the five pillars of excellence will be Deanna Shaw, UX Architect/Tech Director at VMWare. In her role as Program Lead, she will be responsible for the coordinating with the pillar leads and managing the deployment of the programs out to the community.
